Berlin, January 14th, 2014 – The online voting for the GreenTec Awards 2014 has begun and roughly 15,000 registered people have already voted for their personal favorite in only 10 days. Until February 13th, 2014, everyone can actively participate in the largest public voting process of the GreenTec Awards to date. You can cast your vote on the homepage of the GreenTec Awards and on the websites of the partners ProSieben/Galileo, WirtschaftsWoche, Messe München/IFAT, WWF Deutschland and LUX, Germany’s most widely circulated energy magazine with 490,000 copies, six times a year as an insert in the Süddeutsche Zeitung.
Over 200 companies, institutions, Bundesliga soccer clubs and individuals have participated in the competition 2014 and submitted their pioneering contributions. Large companies such as BMW, Deutsche Post, Microsoft, Mitsubishi, Philips, Siemens, Volkswagen, as well as renowned research institutions such as the Fraunhofer-Institut IKTS or the institute for aircraft construction of the University of Stuttgart, promising start-ups, young, creative inventors, and the two clubs VfL Wolfsburg and Borussia Dortmund, in cooperation with Lichtblick SE, are among the applicants.
Marco Voigt, founder of the GreenTec Awards, on the diverse spectrum of applications:
“We are especially pleased that we have so many international applications from countries such as China, Japan or the USA. This shows us that the GreenTec Awards enjoy a great reputation far beyond Germany’s borders and are of global importance. It is also impressive that environmental technology plays an important role for the German Bundesliga soccer clubs.”
In total, you can vote online once in each of thirteen categories. The categories are Automobility, Construction & Living, Energy, Communication, Lifestyle, Aviation, Production, Recycling & Resources, Water & Sewage as well as the four special awards Galileo Wissenspreis, intelligent urbanization, Start-up and WWF. For the first time, the latter will be directly and exclusively determined by the online voting as a public award. All other projects, which receive the largest number of votes in the online voting in their respective category, will automatically qualify as one of three nominees for the GreenTec Awards 2014. Over 50 jury members will determine the nomination of the other two applicants.
The jury is guided by criteria such as level of innovation, contribution to the protection of the environment, profitability, long-term application and media effectiveness. The jury meeting will take place in Berlin on February 25th, 2014.
