The Petroleum HR Council of Canada: National Oil and Gas Industry Bodies to Merge

CALGARY, ALBERTA — (Marketwire) — 03/25/13 — The Petroleum HR Council of Canada (the Council) is announcing today that it is joining Enform Canada on April 1, 2013. This move will consolidate the safety and training services of Enform and the human resources services of the Council into one integrated national entity serving Canada–s oil and gas industry from coast to coast.

“This is a positive initiative for Canada–s oil and gas industry”, said Cheryl Knight, Executive Director and CEO of the Council. “It will re-organize important industry services within one organization, and provide new opportunities to meet industry needs”, she said.

The move will take the form of an acquisition of the Council by Enform Canada on March 31. Effective April 1, the Petroleum HR Council will operate as part of Enform. “We are looking forward to this new relationship with our Council colleagues,” said Cameron MacGillivray, President and CEO of Enform. “This move will be good for both organizations and for our industry,” he said.

The Council has a long-standing close relationship with Enform, which supports and promotes the highest safety standards in Canada–s upstream oil and gas industry through innovative training, certifications, services and resources. Both organizations share many of the same core relationships with industry associations, leaders and enterprises, as well as with government organizations. The two organizations have worked side-by-side for many years out of the same office facilities. “This move just makes sense and the time is right,” said Knight.

The main programs and services of the Council will continue, primarily focusing on two key areas of priority. “The most important of these are our Labour Market Information and Careers in Oil and Gas programs,” said Knight. “Industry has been clear about the ongoing importance of this work,” she said. MacGillvray also confirms, “The acquisition gives us access to valuable information and expertise to better align our training and safety services to industry workforce issues.”

The Council is implementing some changes in response to funding shifts and in preparation for the acquisition. “We are becoming a more-focused organization,” said Knight. Some unfunded work will not be continued, though all current projects will be completed.

“Over the spring and summer of this year, we and our colleagues at Enform will work together with industry and other stakeholders to review our programs and structures as one integrated entity. Our standard will always be how to best meet the needs of Canada–s oil and gas industry,” she said.

“Over the years, the Council has accomplished many great things for Canada–s oil and gas industry. We look forward to continuing these contributions from within Enform,” said Knight.

Funded in part by the Government of Canada–s Sector Council Program.
