The future is light: Heliatek presents its organic photovoltaic modules at the Plastic Electronics Exhibition and Conference in Dresden, Germany

Heliatek presents its state-of-the-art generation of photovoltaic technology in hall 2, booth 070: Organic photovoltaic based on small molecules. Glass as well as foil modules in different colors and various levels of transparency are displayed at the booth. This gives visitors the opportunity to preview the design freedom this latest generation of photovoltaic has to offer.

The modules will go in production in a roll-to-roll process on low cost foils by mid-2012. Heliatek panels are flexible, robust and extremely light, at 0.5 kg/m2 and a weight factor of 190 Wp/kg.

„Due to its outstanding product features and technological breakthrough, our technology opens up completely new dimensions for solar applications, even in areas where traditional solar technologies nowadays are finding their limits”, says Thibaud Le Séguillon, CEO of Heliatek.

Whereas the efficiency of conventional modules decreases with each degree rise in temperature, Heliatek organic modules maintain their full efficiency due to its zero temperature coefficient. A clear advantage, especially for sunny regions. The panels are also perfectly suitable for northern countries with less sunshine thanks to their outstanding low light performance – the module efficiency remains constant down to 100 Wp/m2.

Thibaud Le Séguillon adds: „The cells are made of only 4 grams of organic raw material without any heavy metals. Environmentally-friendly materials, low process temperatures and an extremely short energy payback time make organic photovoltaics the only truly green solar technology.”
