BASTROP, TX — (Marketwire) — 08/30/11 — In an annual celebration, Sharp Propane employees volunteer their time with Texas non-profits during the month of August to commemorate the company–s anniversary as part of an ongoing commitment to community service. 2011 marks the 62nd Anniversary for Sharp Propane.
“Our company values giving back, and we are happy to volunteer with the communities that we so proudly serve,” said Steve McKay, Sharp Propane CEO. “We are passionate about taking time to volunteer with an organization or cause that is meaningful to us, and Sharp Service Month is a wonderful way for us to do this as a company team.”
During this year–s Service Month, employees focused on supporting local food banks and Meals on Wheels organizations in their communities by sorting donations, serving clients and assisting at special events. The Austin and Fort Worth teams volunteered at the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas and Tarrant Area Food Bank respectively. The corporate office in Bastrop spent time at the Bastrop County Emergency Food Pantry & Support Center. Bryan employees volunteered with Brazos Valley Food Bank at a special event, Feast of Caring, where they joined local Bryan celebrities in serving food to their neighbors. La Grange employees volunteered with Meals on Wheels of Smithville, providing meals directly to seniors whose mobility is impaired.

In addition to Sharp Service Month, the company maintains a year-round community service program, which offers employees up to 20 hours of service leave annually.
