SGS appoints new Global Wind Energy Expert

SGS has appointed Alexander Heitmann as Global Wind Energy Expert to take over responsibility for project management of offshore wind farm certification projects, as well as other wind energy projects for SGS’s international clients.

Alexander Heitmann is a graduate of the University of Energy Technologies in Zittau, Germany. Before joining SGS he worked for TÜV NORD in the certification body for wind turbines from 2005 to 2008. He was responsible for the working area of load assumptions and has also represented the company in national and international standard working groups on this theme. Furthermore, he was Acting Head of the certification body for a period of time during his tenure.

Speaking about his appointment, Alexander said: “This is a very exciting challenge for me to work for SGS Renewable Energy and I am looking forward to getting underway with some of SGS’s most recently awarded projects.”

SGS offers a wide range of services for the wind energy sector in terms of quality assurance and reliability. Reliability of structures and wind turbines is essential for successful performance. That’s why SGS‘s independent certification and inspection services are needed to improve trust in the projects and secure the quality of wind farms. SGS not only offers inspection and certification but works as an independent project surveyor, carrying out project monitoring and due diligence evaluation of wind farm projects, both onshore and offshore.
