REPEAT-Media Advisory-Invitation and Photo Opportunity: Public Discussion of Saskatoon Community Wind–s Proposal to Provide Clean Electricity for 16,000 Residents

SASKATOON, SASKATCHEWAN — (Marketwired) — 09/12/13 — Attn: Saskatoon Media/Photo Editors

Saskatoon Community Wind is hosting a public meeting to continue the ongoing discussion of our proposal to construct a wind farm 15 to 30 kilometres outside Saskatoon. The proposed wind farm would consist of ten wind turbines that would generate electricity for 16,000 Saskatoon residents. By developing unsubsidized, renewable electricity generation, this community initiative would significantly benefit the local economy, it would help to stabilize variable electricity prices and it would also significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Media are invited to attend the public meeting, including a presentation and panel discussion. There will be an opportunity to interview panelists, including James Glennie, Founder and President of Saskatoon Community Wind, and Ron Seftel, Senior Vice President, Operations, Bullfrog Power. Bullfrog Power is supporting the project through its Bullfrog Builds Renewable Accelerator program, which provides financing to help in the development and construction phases of new projects.

About Saskatoon Community Wind

We are a Saskatoon community initiative. For the last year a group of us have been investigating the potential for a substantial wind farm that would be developed and owned by Saskatoon citizens. It would consist of 10 large wind turbines, located 15 to 30 kilometres outside of Saskatoon. Those turbines would generate enough clean, green, emission-free and unsubsidized electricity to meet the needs of 16,000 Saskatoon citizens.

We will be hosting a public meeting on Thursday 12th September at the Farmers– Market to discuss this idea and consider next steps. All are welcome and details are on our web site at . Check out our and pages.
