On 23 May 2019, the European Commission set new maximum levels for vitamin D and erucic acid in infant formula and follow-on formula in the Delegate Regulation (EU) 2016/127. The changes will come into force on 12.06.2019 (20 days after publication).

The maximum levels of vitamin D in infant formula are included:

Until now, the maximum content of vitamin D in infant formula has been 3

As food-borne exposure to eucaric acid may pose a long-term health risk to infants and young children, the maximum levels of erucic acid in infant formula and follow-on formula have been reduced in the Delegate Regulation (EU) 2016/127.
