Mitsubishi Nuclear Energy Systems Appoints Makoto Toyama as President and CEO

ARLINGTON, VA — (Marketwire) — 04/01/13 — Mitsubishi Nuclear Energy Systems, Inc. (MNES) today announced the appointment of Makoto Toyama to the position of President and Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. He succeeds Kiyoshi Yamauchi. While serving as the new MNES Chief Executive Director, Mr. Yamauchi will continue to hold his position on the MNES Board of Directors and will also be Senior Corporate Advisor to Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI). Mr. Yamauchi will work closely with Mr. Toyama to ensure the company–s continued operational success.

Mr. Toyama most recently served as Deputy Head of Nuclear Energy Systems for MHI and brings a wealth of talent and experience to this position. Mr. Toyama launched his career at Mitsubishi in 1979, working as an engineer for Mitsubishi Atomic Power Industries, which merged with MHI in 1994. Since then, Mr. Toyama has taken on numerous responsibilities that have contributed to Mitsubishi–s success in the nuclear energy business. These include General Manager of the Reactor Safety Engineering Department, General Manager of the Reactor Core Engineering Department and General Manager of the Nuclear Systems Engineering Department.

Mr. Toyama holds both a bachelor–s degree and a master–s degree in nuclear engineering from the University of Tokyo. He will be based at the MNES Engineering Center in Charlotte, NC.
