Blue Plate Catering Unveils Webisode Series to Highlight Company Initiatives

CHICAGO, IL — (Marketwire) — 10/20/11 — One of Chicago–s most successful and trusted catering and food solutions companies, Blue Plate (), has launched an advanced webisode series to showcase its unique initiatives. These webisodes will demonstrate to the public their efforts to become the most environmentally sustainable caterer, farm-to-table practices and an inside peak into some of their best events.

Blue Plate Catering webisodes include a five-episode series titled “Conscious Catering,” and premieres with a behind-the-scenes look at a sustainable event at Chicago–s Field Museum. Laura Lukas, Blue Plate–s Sustainability Coordinator, provides commentary and expert advice on how to implement “green” features into your next event. Lukas– tour showed how environmentally friendly options can be applied to all aspects of an event to make it greener — from flatware to bar and food menus.

“By providing a glimpse into our ongoing initiatives, I hope the episodes will promote Blue Plate–s environmental corporate social responsibility at work — and even inspire other companies, venues and individuals to adopt and implement their own sustainable practices,” Lukas said.

Upcoming episodes, currently in-development, will feature the “Welcome to Blue Plate” open house event, a farm dinner showcase featuring Prairie Crossing farm located in Grayslake, IL, Blue Plate chefs demonstrating their sustainable cooking practices and recipes; following the journey of leftover food from an event, through the urban composting stage and to city parks; tours of Blue Plate–s Chicago office to show internal sustainability practices that viewers can implement at home; and a “how-to” guide to demonstrate making your own compost.
