Meet SGS at two Upcoming Conferences on Wind Energy in Spain

The Spanish Wind Energy Association (AEE) (http://www.aeeolica.es/), of which SGS is a member, is organizing two upcoming events after the summer. These events will provide SGS experts with the opportunity to demonstrate the company’s capabilities in the wind energy sector.

Wind PowerExpo 2009

Wind PowerExpo 2009 will take place on September 22-24, 2009 at the Zaragoza Exhibition Center in Spain. The event will cover the most important topics in the wind power sector and international speakers will share their views on issues such as wind farm direction phases, transport and logistics, operation and maintenance, repowering of existing farms and offshore wind energy.

In the session on blades’ maintenance and repair, Torsten Muuß, SGS Global Technical Manager for Renewable Energy, will talk about rotor blade problems and inspection methods.

Technical Conference on Risk Assessment in the Wind Energy Sector

AEE and the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA) (http://www.ewea.org/) organized the Technical Conference on Risk Assessment in the Wind Sector, slated for October 13, 2009. The whole-day conference will be held in Pamplona, Spain, and will focus on risk assessment in wind turbine workshops, transportation, installation, maintenance, exploitation and the final phase of dismantling.

With this conference, AEE and EWEA aim to participate in the European Campaign on Risk Assessment (http://osha.europa.eu/en/campaigns/hw2008/about) launched by the European Agency for Safety and Health (EU-OSHA), to create a guide for risk assessment in the wind sector.

In the session on Risk Assessment in Wind Farm Installation, Marta Pejenaute, Heath and Safety Technician at SGS, will give a speech about machinery and equipments. The language of her presentation, as well as of the whole conference will be Spanish.

SGS provides Inspection and Audit Services in accordance with international standards to ensure the health, safety and environment (HSE) aspects of wind farm projects both onshore and offshore.
