Construction Writers Association Calls for Entries for 2012 Journalism and Photography Awards

CHICAGO, IL — (Marketwire) — 03/21/12 — The –s (CWA) is accepting entries for its 2012 Journalism and Photography Awards, which recognize excellence and commitment in the field of journalism. This awards program is open to members and nonmembers.

“You–ve worked diligently and perfected your craft,” said CWA Journalism and Photography Awards Committee Chair Patti Flesher, director of communications for Portland Cement Association. “Now is the time to get the recognition you deserve in order to set your publication apart from the competition.”

The CWA and Awards recognize excellence in eight categories:

Kneeland “Ned” Godfrey Award for body of work.

Robert F. Boger Award in five categories: feature articles, special reports, editorials, videos, and blogs.

Gordon B. Wright Photography Award in two categories: single feature photograph and for a series of related photographs.

“The blog award is a new category for CWA this year,” Flesher said, “based on the increasing use of social media in construction industry journalism.”

Submit entries electronically or postmarked by May 1, 2012, to take advantage of the early bird rate. Entries will be accepted through June 1, 2012, but those received after May 1 will incur an additional fee.

“Obtaining recognition through the 2012 CWA Journalism and Photography Awards is a great way to showcase your professional accomplishments and raise the profile of your publication,” Flesher added. “CWA is proud to recognize the talent and dedication of the industry–s best writers and photographers.”

Award recipients will be recognized at the 2012 CWA Grand Awards Dinner to be held on Oct. 23, 2012, during CWA–s annual convention, CONNECTED, at the DoubleTree Hotel Washington DC in Crystal City, VA.
