VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA — (Marketwired) — 05/30/13 — The Canadian Passive House Institute (CanPHI) announces a conference dedicated to cost-effective strategies for radically reducing building energy use in cool climates. PASSIVE HOUSE NORTH 2013: Affordable Energy Efficiency for a Changing Climate will convene September 27-28 at the Westin Bayshore in Vancouver.
Buildings designed to the Passive House Standard use 90% less energy than comparable structures, while costing only 10% more to build. This baked-in affordability has made Passive House the world–s fastest-growing high-performance building standard.
Wolfgang Feist , the German physicist who co-developed the Passive House Standard, and Henry Gifford, who The New Yorker dubbed “The Boiler Man”, will be among the featured presenters. Others include Tomas O–Leary of Ireland–s Passive House Academy, Bronwyn Barry of One Sky Homes, Tim McDonald of Onion Flats and Nabih Tahan of CREE. Canadian presenters include Peter Amerogen of Habitat, Graham Finch of RDH Building Engineering, Lucie Langlois of Alias Architecture, Robert Malczyk of Equilibrium, and Sadhu Johnston from the City of Vancouver.
