The hydro turbines from Smart Hydro Power in the African continent.

Munich, April 2014 – Nine more SMART turbines are sold to Nigeria. This marks the biggest sale of kinetic turbines ever made to the African continent by Smart Hydro Power.

After a successful test was performed at the end of 2013 with the installation of two turbines in Nigeria, Smart Hydro Power closed another deal for nine kinetic water turbines. This month, the third turbine from the last order to Nigeria was installed in a small village close to Akwang. This turbine is providing energy for 7 households living close to the river Mada, even during the dry season.

The installation of these nine turbines is planned for the first half of 2014. The plant will help provide continuous clean energy for the African community, a resource that is never taken for granted there. More importantly, the presence of the turbines will not harm the environment, one of the most valued legacies of the community.

Smart Hydro Power is gladly working together with its partners in Nigeria, Dr. Gideon Adogbo and Akanegbu Edward Cheta, since they have done a great job in finding business opportunities there. Nigeria is a country in constant development and SHP is ready to grow together with them. Since the first visit by SHP engineers to Nigeria, Peter Fröde said: ‘This is not only a place with good weather, beautiful nature and friendly people; it has great business potential as well’.

Nigeria is a wealthy country, rich in natural resources and fresh water, with a large population still not connected to the public grid. Those citizens with access to the public grid suffer from frequent blackouts, causing interruptions to daily business and private life. This reality presents the partners with an interesting business opportunity to sell kinetic turbines.
