California Water Service Company Donates $136,750 to Local Organizations to Brighten Holidays for Disadvantaged

SAN JOSE, CA — (Marketwired) — 11/24/14 — As part of its commitment to improve the quality of life in the communities it serves, California Water Service Company (Cal Water), the largest subsidiary of California Water Service Group (NYSE: CWT), is partnering with charitable organizations in each of its local service areas to help provide meals and services this holiday season to thousands of families in need through its annual Operation Gobble program.

Cal Water will donate $136,750 to local charities in its 21 service areas through Operation Gobble this month. The donations include 3,450 gift checks for holiday meals, plus more than $85,000 in direct contributions. The company worked with local and state elected officials to identify a number of the charities receiving donations.

According to Cal Water President and CEO Martin A. Kropelnicki, Operation Gobble donations do not come from water rates, but instead from the company–s shareholders.

“The holiday season can be particularly stressful for those who are having difficulty due to economic circumstances, and we are committed to being a good neighbor and improving the quality of life in the areas we serve,” Kropelnicki said. “Through Operation Gobble, we hope to help make the holidays better for those in need.”

Cal Water serves about 2 million people through 473,100 service connections in California. The company has provided water service in the state since 1926. Additional information may be obtained online at .
